I had the super awesome pleasure of teaming up with Four Roses Bourbon to create a BBQ recipe using Four Roses Yellow Label Bourbon.

Four Roses is the only Bourbon Distillery that combines 5 proprietary yeast strains with two separate mashbills to produce 10 distinct Bourbon Recipes, each with their own unique character, spiciness, and rich fruity flavors. All 10 of these recipes are gently aged undisturbed in new white oak barrels in their one-of-a-kind single story rack warehouses. The legend of Four Roses began when Founder Paul Jones, Jr. became smitten by the beauty of a Southern belle. It is said that he sent a proposal to her, and she replied that if her answer were “Yes,” she would wear a corsage of roses on her gown to the upcoming grand ball. Paul Jones waited for her answer excitedly on that night of the grand ball…when she arrived in her beautiful gown, she wore a corsage of four red roses. He later named his Bourbon “Four Roses” as a symbol of his devout passion for the lovely belle, a passion he thereafter transferred to making his beloved Four Roses Bourbon.

Their line of Bourbons features  Four Roses Bourbon Yellow (80 proof), Four Roses Small Batch (90 Proof), and Four Roses Single Barrel (100 proof).  As I mentioned above today I crafted a boozy BBQ sauce using Four Roses Bourbon Yellow. They have been around since 1888 and survived Prohibition, The Great Depression, Two World Wars, and 40 years of exile from the US, only to be named American Whisky Distiller of the Year for 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2015 – four times in the last five years – by Whisky Magazine. I couldn’t think of a better bourbon to use in boozy BBQ Sauce.
