It’s that time of the month ago where we highlight some of the awesome items Chewy.com has to offer!

Chewy.com is a one-stop shop for all pet guardians, their headquarters is located in Dania Beach, Florida but they have warehouses all over the country which means you get your order fast which also means items are fresh when they arrive at your doorstep. Their website features over 18,000 items that make being a pet parent just a little bit easier from trusted brands such as Blue Buffalo, Stella & Chewy’s, Merrick, Fresh Step and more!

I have started to explore the option of raw and freeze-dried dog food and my Step Daughter who works at a pet store has suggested TruFood by Wellness in the past and this month I decided to give it a try. Wellness is a brand I already trust because I have purchased both their dog and cat food off and on in the past.

I was super worried at first that this would be super complicated to mix, especially since it didn’t actually tell me how much water to mix. I decided to experiment with water to mix ratio and found one my dogs really liked.

Because my dogs are already on a fish based diet I decided on the Fresh Salmon, Sweet Potatoes & Kale recipe which features raw salmon as the first ingredient and is also loaded with dehydrated fruits and veggies that are packed with antioxidants and natural fiber. I love that it features no wheat, corn, soy, genetically modified ingredients, artificial preservatives, colors or flavors which means its perfect for dogs like Rosie who have sensitivities!

My dogs LOVED this food! It has a very distinct smell to it but it wasn’t unpleasant, it actually reminded me of flake fish food. I highly suggest experimenting with the water to mix ratio. Loki liked his thick while Rosie liked hers soupier. I suggest starting with a small bit of water and slowly adding tablespoon by tablespoon until you get the desired ratio.

This product can be served by its self, as a kibble mixer or as a snack! Its available in 1 lb bags which makes up to 5 lbs of fresh food and a 7lb bag which makes up to 33 lbs of fresh food. The 1 lb bag sells for $12.29 and the 7 lb bag sells for $71.74.
