My Experience With Medical Marijuana and CBD Products(Featuring Irie CBD)

Stephs Cheers and Jeers did receive the Irie CBD products in return for an unbiased review.

I want to start off by saying I do NOT condone ANY illegal behavior or activities, Medical Marijuana and CBD products are legal in my state and I have gone through the process to legally use Medical Marijuana for my Chronic Pain, Please be careful and do research as to what is legal in your site/country and what is not. I am also not making ANY medical claims, These products work differently for everyone and just because they have worked for me does NOT mean they will work for you. I am writing this post to document my experience and educate others on Medical Marijuana and CBD and chronic pain management.

So at the end of 2016 I made the leap and applied for a Medical Marijuana card, I was at my wit’s end with my chronic pain and having NO pain relief, I saw a few documentaries on Medical Marijuana and saw the range of products that were offered and was really intrigued. I was really skeptical at first and thought I would give it a try because the worst it would do is not provide any relief and I would just not renew my card. I received my card in February and was really excited to meet with the dispensary staff to discuss all of the products they offer. Around this time I also received some CBD products from a company called Irie CBD.

CBD stands for Cannabidiol which is one of at least 113 active cannabinoids in Marijuana, unlike THC, CBD does not deliver a psychoactive effect, THC DOES produces a psychoactive effect on the brain giving you a “high” feeling because it binds to the CB-1 receptors thus producing a euphoric effect. CBD binds to the CB2 receptors, these receptors are found in immune cells and work to reduce inflammation, I personally have a lot of luck with both CBD and THC products but prefer CBD when I really need relief but don’t want to be foggy headed or CANT be foggy headed(THC products are GREAT for night time!)

The CBD products I tried from Irie is their Pain Balm(with Celadrin) and their  Lifeline(Critical Cell Support Blend)

I LOVE the Pain Balm! It has been a life saver! It promotes joint health and has worked WONDERS on the days my joints are sore and swollen. Celadrin has been proven to be six times more effective than glucosamine and chondroitin combined, Celadrin is one of the most effective natural compounds that safely promotes flexibility and healthy joint function and is FDA-compliant. This product is one of my GO to products, It has helped me through some rough days and I am so grateful for this product! You can purchase it in a 1 oz container for $27.95 or a 4 oz container for $89.95, I noticed A LOT of product goes a long way and I don’t need very much to get long lasting relief.

The Lifeline Therapeutic Blend features CBD oil mixed with Organic Frankincense, Ginger, and Sandalwood Essential Oils, Frankincense considered one of the top EOs for health, it acts as an antiseptic, disinfectant and astringent, Frankincense has always been a favorite of mine! Ginger is great for treating stomach problems, nausea and stress, it also has pain relieving properties, promotes blood circulation and has antiseptic properties as well. I’ve been dealing with stomach issues for months now and Ginger is a GO to for me. Sandalwood has many properties including antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, astringent, carminative, diuretic, disinfectant, emollient, expectorant, hypotensive, memory booster, sedative and tonic substance. I am going, to be honest, I have only used this product a few times and really prefer the pain balm over it, but it’s a great product to try.

It sells in different sizes and ranges in price from $59.95-$199.95, the bottle says to take 1-2 drops per 10 lb body weight daily.

Now onto actual Medical Marijuana Products, I have tried a few actual strains of flower, I really don’t like it, I mean its great for an instant effect but I have noticed I can over do it REALLY easily and that has actually lead to a few panic attacks, the strains I do like are Dancehall, Exodus Cheese and Critical Mass which is a CBD/THC 1:1 ratio strain. I REALLY like the CBD:THC Anti-Inflammatory Salve that my dispensary offers, it sells for $50 at mine(prices range dispensary to dispensary) and it has been one of my favorite products, again with this product A LOT goes a long way and I’ve noticed it provides long lasting pain relief and relaxes my muscles, even though it contains THC I don’t notice a “high” that I get with using flower products or tinctures, I know some people can be more sensitive to absorption through the skin but this is actually my favorite THC product.

I have also tried a THC tincture that uses a strain called snowdrop, I prefer the tincture over flower because it’s not rough on my lungs and has actually helped some of my stomach and GI issues, it provides a moderate amount of pain relief and is great for the really rough pain days.

Another products I am obsessed with are THC and CBD patches, I have started buying them through a company called Mary’s Medicinals, they offer BOTH THC and CBD patches and I have tried both. Money is tight for us so I actually cut the patches in half and sometimes thirds to make them last longer(I noticed no difference if I cut them in half or leave them whole, they still work just as well) because they sell in my area for $10 per patch for CBD and $16 a patch for THC, I purchase the CBD ones often and they help just as well as the THC ones.

There is also a range of THC products on the market including teas, coffees, edibles, fat infusions and much much more and its all about finding what works for you.

Final Thoughts: I have had a lot of success with CBD Creams and Salves, when it comes to THC products I also really prefer patches, creams, and salves, I feel it absorbs deeply into my skin and really provides a deep pain relief that I’ve been unable to find with any other pain relief products on the market. I was really worried that THC products like those could cause me to get really high and foggy headed but in my experience they do not, It really relaxes my body without messing with my head(Remember EVERYONE IS different!) and the CBD products provide a nice pain relief without feeling overly relaxed, great for busy days. If CBD products are something you would like to try I really like Irie CBD. If you are looking to learn more about Medical Marijuana in your state there are TONS of resources on the internet. These products have really changed my life, they have given me some of my independence back and I haven’t even had to use my cane since February!!
