Holiday Gift Guide: Piquant Post Fresh Spices Subscription Box

Stephs Cheers and Jeers was provided the samples mentioned in this post in return for an unbiased review.

Piquant Post is a monthly subscription box that delivers fresh ground spices to your doorstep. Each month you will receive four spice blends from single region or country as well as four recipes that are chef developed and approved. You also have online access to recipes, ingredient substitutes, and alternative uses.

I received the October box which was themed around Jamaican flavors and featured Scotch Bonnet Peppers, Jamaican Jerk, Gingerbread Spice and Island Spice. The recipes that were included were Jerk Chicken, Jamaican Run Down(Fish Stew), Lemon Pepper Chicken and Gingerbread Pancakes. I haven’t done much cooking lately due to a pain flare up but once I am feeling better I can’t wait to try the fish stew!!

The Scotch Bonnet Peppers were something I have never heard of but I was instantly intrigued, the package states they are similar in heat to Habanero peppers and that a little(1/16-1/4 tsp) goes a long way! It smells so fragrant and I can’t wait to use them in a chili!!

Jamaican Jerk seasoning is something I use often and this blend contains allspice, sweet paprika, thyme, onion powder, garlic powder, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, black pepper, and cayenne.

Its baking season in my house so I was really excited for the Gingerbread Spice, this blend contains ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and cloves and smells AMAZING!!!

I have heard of Island Spice but have never used it before, this blend contains paprika, thyme, allspice, ginger, garlic powder, onion powder, parsley, white peppercorn, and rosemary. This blend is my favorite out of all four! It smells so fragrant and I think it would pair well with many dishes.

All of the spices I received smell super fresh and I love the reclosable bags. The Foodie in me loves the ability to try new spices and recipes in my home, especially spices and recipes I wouldn’t typically purchase or try.

Piquant Post sells for $11.99 a month, $65.94 6 months prepay and $119.88 12 months prepay. I think this is a fantastic price! I pay more than that per spice at the grocery store! I highly recommend Piquant Post and a subscription would make a wonderful gift for the Foodie in your life!
