I love super unique gifts and a few years ago I came across PyroPet on Facebook and nearly flipped out! The video I saw was a cat candle with a skeleton inside and I thought it was one of the most creative candles I’ve ever seen! A few months ago they sent me one of their candles and I knew it would be the perfect addition to my altar!
The idea behind PyroPet came to Thorunn Arnadottir, an Icelandic designer while she was studying at the Royal College of Art in London. She created the cat candle(which was called “The Devil’s Pet”) first and it pretty much went viral on the internet. They launched a Kickstarter Campaign and they reached their goal in just 4 days and at the end, they raised 250% of their initial goal. They have since added other animals to their collection and I hope to collect them all!
I received their white Dýri candle(Dýri) is short for “hreindýr”, which means “reindeer” in Icelandic)
This candle features a golden skeleton, the candle is 5.1 x 8.7 x 3.9 Inches (13 x 22 x 10 cm) and made from Paraffin wax features a cotton wick, and the skeleton is made from anodized aluminum. Each candle has an approximate burn time of 22 hours.
The candle is literally PERFECT! When it starts to burn off the antlers it gives off a creepy look that reminds me of when deer rub the velvet off their new antlers. It produces a nice bright burn and my candle burned very constantly.
PyroPet also offer Cat, Reindeer, Rabbit and Bird candles, they sell at different prices ranging from $18-$35 and I love that after the candle is gone I have a cute little aluminum skeleton left over.
