I love Gumbo, My Dad’s side of the family has ties to Louisiana, My Great Uncle came up and made REAL Louisiana Gumbo, I have acid reflux so REAL Gumbo and all its yummy spices gives me SUCH bad heartburn its not even funny, so I decided to make my OWN Take on Gumbo! Here is my recipe!

Not So Spicy Gumbo:

Ingredients:
1 Package of Sausage(I bought semi hot)
1 Bag of Shrimp(I bought the frozen ready to use shrimp)
4 cups of Chicken Broth
1 Red Pepper
1 Onion
2 Cans of Diced Tomato’s(dont drain)
1/4 cup of flour
1/4 cup of butter
Celery(I bought a stalk of fresh and cut it up, but you can also use frozen)
Seasonings(I used Salt, Pepper, Red Pepper Flakes,Molasses Bacon Salt)
Slice up Sausage, Onion, Pepper and Celery, Fry up in pan with small amount of oil,
While cooking, in separate pan, melt butter until frothy, add flour and Make a Roux(Roux is simply just melting butter until its frothy, mix in flour, you will get a thick paste, it helps thicken up your gumbo)
Once Roux is done, add chicken brother and once sausage mixture is done, add to gumbo,
Next add seasoning, Stir
Add Tomato’s
Stir and cover, let simmer for 15 minutes.
Add Shrimp and shut off gumbo.
Wait 10 minutes
Serve over white rice
