Stephs Cheers and Jeers was provided the samples mentioned in this post in return for an unbiased review.
Earlier this year I wrote a post about building a bug out bag, I am always looking of items to add to it. I worked with AcuRite before when I reviewed their Hunting and Fishing Activity Meter with Weather Forecaster and was REALLY excited to team up with them again.
AcuRite is owned Chaney Instrument Co., a leading manufacturer of precision time, temperature and weather products since 1943. AcuRite offers a huge range of weather station models to choose from as well as weather alert radios, thermometers and more! Their weather stations are great ways to track and even predict weather!
I received their Flashlight with NOAA Weather Radio to review.
The Flashlight with NOAA Weather Radio gives you easy access to up-to-date weather information and national weather alerts, you can easily tune in to emergency alerts, storm alerts, tornadoes, floods, disasters, amber alerts and public announcements with the AcuRite Emergency Weather Alert NOAA Radio with LED Flashlight. This radio is tuned to NOAA Weather Radio (NWR), which provides continuous weather information including warnings, watches, forecasts and all hazards 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The radio sounds a loud alert siren when emergency conditions occur which ensures you won’t miss any alert.
Specific Area Message Encoding (S.A.M.E.) ensures you will only receive advisories, watches and warnings that are intended for your specific location. Warnings that are relevant to your local area scroll across the back lit LCD display and the radio features a color-coded LED’s indicate alert type. It is powered by 3 AA batteries but there is also a hand crank that provides emergency power by recharging the rechargeable hand-crank battery pack.
The radio was SUPER easy to set up, literately I just turned it on and programmed it in 3 seconds for my area. I have used it a few times when we didn’t have power and a bad storm was blowing through and it provides super accurate information. I get super clear reception because its transmitted from on top of a mountain super close to my house, but the radio also features an antenna. The flash light is super bright and I like that the radio is a 2 in 1. Its super sturdy and a MUST have for all bug out bags or emergency kits.
The Flashlight with NOAA Weather Radio from AcuRite sells for $19.99 and there are no subscription fees or other costs.
