I recently made a stop at Two Neanderthals Smokin’ BBQ in Springfield, VT. I am a HUGE BBQ Fan(its actually my favorite cuisine) and have been left very disappointed in the past in the area with the lack of good BBQ. When I caught wind that a BBQ place was opening up right in Springfield(which is a 20 minute drive for me) I got super excited!
Two Neanderthals Smokin’ BBQ is a food truck located at 361 River Street in Springfield VT. Trevor and Mike are behind Two Neanderthals Smokin’ BBQ which serves ribs, pulled pork, burgers, dogs, handcut fries, homemade sides and more!
Their menu includes a pulled pork sandwich which is made from pork shoulder that is hand rubbed with spices and smoked for 12 hours which is hand pulled and features their amazing homemade BBQ sauce served on a toasted bun, Hand rubbed ribs that are smoked and slathered in homemade BBQ sauce, Brisket Sandwich which is beef brisket hand rubbed with spices, smoked for 12 hours and served on a toasted bun.
They also offer Beans, Hand Cut Fries, Homemade Coleslaw, Stuffed Jalapeno Poppers and more!
I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with fries and a side of coleslaw.
Review:
I ordered two pulled pork sandwiches, both with fries and a side of coleslaw and it came to $22. A Decent price in my opinion for a lunch for two considering the portion sizes.
I seriously have to say this is some of the BEST BBQ I have EVER had! The pork was juicy and very tender and had zero fat. It literally fell apart in my mouth. I was really excited to find out they use locally made rolls and are a great additon the the sandwich. The sandwich had an intense smoky flavor which someone like me LOVES! The hand cut fries were very tasty and seasoned well. The Homemade BBQ sauce was my favorite, it was like something iv never tasted, its an amazing mixture of sweetness and tangy, not to thick but not to thin. The Coleslaw was creamy and tangy and tasted very fresh.
I would definitely give them 5/5 stars! The guys were very friendly, the food was amazing, the portion size is great for the price and I highly suggest them! You will NOT leave hungry!
If you visit, tell them Stephs Cheers and Jeers sent you!

you got to be kidding me!! one, they are expensive! nothing cheap here. two, you must love liquid smoke because that’s all you taste!! three, the ribs were over cooked/dry and the pulled pork sandwich was so fatty that I threw it out the window to feed the crows!! so I figured it was a fluke and tried it again. same results as the first time. this is one customer that will not go back !!
I am sorry you had a bad experience Bob, I paid $22 for two pulled pork sandwiches, both with fries and coleslaw. I thought was a decent price for two to eat lunch and be full. I love extremely smoky BBQ, while I understand some people do not. I have not tried the ribs yet but I do I will be sure to post the review. I would post on their page and give them your feed back if you have had a bad experience.
I also thought their fare was dry and very expensive. And yes, there is fat. I thought there was way too much mayo in the slaw as well.
Bob, I dont know what place you are talking about but it sure wasnt the same place I went! This place was great! The meat was SO tender and absolutely NO far at all. Tasted just like REAL smoked meat..not that “smoke in the bottle” like you claim. I have not heard anything bad at all from anyone who has gone there, not one. I heard from numerous local people who have stopped there and they all think the same way I do. That just seems strange that you are the only one who complained. Oh well, to each his own I guess!
Well, everyone has an opinion and maybe another trip there might be coming up. My first experience was great and the food was perfect, did I just catch them on a good day? I guess I will have to go again and see. Sorry, Bob, for jumping on your opinion, I guess I was just surprised at what you had to say. I will try them again soon and come back and leave another comment.
so decided to try it again with horrible results. I got the brisket sandwich after work on Wednesday and all down hill from there. don’t get me wrong, the sandwich was packed but the vomiting that night was awful!! I missed work on Thursday and Friday because of it! now I cant say it was something else I ate cause that was my only meal that day. This is one food truck that i’ll pass from now on!
I would DEFINITELY contact the owner and let them know.
Well Bob you really are the only person that I have heard complain. I hear only positive feedback and we gladly accept any feedback. I’m sorry you got sick but o don’t believe it was from our food. This winter there was quite a bit of sickness. So gladly stop down and talk to us about your experience. Thanks and I own that food trailer and we work hard to keep our food as consistent as we can.
