Spiced Up is a monthly subscription box that delivers hand-selected spices with facts on origin, history, and how to use them, as well as a kitchen-tested recipe. This is the ULTIMATE gift for the foodie in your life who likes to cook.

Spiced Up recently sent me one of their boxes to check out and I was so excited to try some of the spices in the box.

The box I received contained

Chermoula Spice which originates from North Africa, has a spicy and warm taste and features Red Pepper Powder, Coriander Powder, Ground Cumin, Ground Turmeric, Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Ground Allspice, Fennel Powder, Black Peppercorns, Cinnamon Korintje Powder Grade A, Ground Anise Seed, Ground Ginger, Ground Nutmeg and Ground Cardamom. It pairs well with fish, salmon, lamb, chicken, hummus and marinades.

Bourbon Barrel Sugar which originates from Indonesia/New England and has a mild smokey/sweet flavor. It features Organic Coconut Palm Sugar that’s aged in an Oak Bourbon Barrel. It’s great as a finish on meats, baked goods, stir-fries and even as a rimmer for cocktails.

Nigella Sativa which originates in India and has a strong/peppery flavor which features Nigella Sativa Seeds which is famously used on Jewish Rye Bread and pairs well on lamb, veggies, liquors, baking break and is an ingredient in Garam Masala.

Italian Seasoning which has a sweet/lemony flavor and features Marjoram, Sage, Basil, Thyme, and Oregano. It pairs well with Italian cooking, spaghetti, pizza, tomato sauces and chicken parm.

I LOVED this box, I had never heard of Chermoula Spice or Nigella Sativa so I was really excited to try them and I LOVED the Bourbon Barrel Sugar! Its super tasty and can be used in cooking as well as baking! I really liked they included Italian Seasoning because I’m always making homemade pizzas.

Boxes are $20 a month and personally…I think it’s worth it, between the quality of the spices and the sizes you receive its well worth the price because you also get to try spices you might not be familiar with.
