Many of my readers might know, I am a plus sized woman. I wear a size 18/20 and I have struggled with weight issues my whole adult life, being almost 300 pounds at one time. We all know obesity is a epidemic and I am sure we all know the dangers that go hand and hand with obesity. While its 100% true you cant tell how healthy someone is by a picture or assume they have medical problems because they are considered obese.(In my opinion the BMI chart is a load of BS!),
I am 250 pounds and I have perfect blood pressure, Perfect cholesterol and the only health problems I really have are knee problems(unrelated to weight, from a fall when I was a kid) and heartburn.
I thought Id sound off on my opinion of Fit Mom and her recent Ban from Facebook for her “hate speech” towards Curvy Girl Lingerie.
For those that don’t know who Fit Mom is, shes popular for her recent “Whats You’re Excuse?” Picture that has been circulating the internet.
She was under fire for supposed “Fat Shaming” but that’s a whole different story.
Curvy Girl Lingerie started a campaign asking woman to send in pictures of them in lingerie to show what REAL(Non photo shopped in the words of the owner) Woman Look like.
Fit Mom took to Facebook and said this regarding the campaign
“I woke up this morning to news stories about how overweight nearly obese women should be proud of their bodies (as they posed in lingerie) …
We need to change this strange mentality we are breeding in the U.S. and start celebrating people who are a result of hard work, dedication and discipline. I’m not bashing those who are proud and overweight, I am empowering those who are proud and healthy to come out and be the real role models in our society.”
Facebook then banned her for “hate speech” and removed her profile, restoring it later citing it was an “error”
Here is my opinion on this WHOLE thing, While I don’t think what she said is hate speech, I do agree and don’t agree with some of her points.:
Everyone Woman in my opinion deserves to be PROUD of who they are and feel beautiful,Woman are so strong, we have the ability to do so much, We can handle so much emotionally and still come out on top!
Part of me does agree with Fit Mom in the sense that we need to accept EVERYONE, We shouldn’t accept one model who is plus sized but make nasty and rude comments towards a fit model and vise versa.
Everyone woman in the above picture is 150 pounds, but all different pants sizes!
I think ALL woman should feel beautiful about them selves regardless of size, race, disability, etc. Woman come in all different shapes and sizes. While I don’t support obesity because I know first hand the struggles that come with it,I DO SUPPORT every woman feeling beautiful and proud of who they are as a person on the inside, I personally know how hard it is to lose weight so next time you get down because someone calls you fat or says some rude comment regarding your size or weight, Just remember
You Are Beautiful <3
We all come in different shapes and sizes, but in the end we are all beautiful.
You are so much more then a number on a scale or a pants size!
Here’s to body acceptance whether you are a size 0 or a size 22+!
We are the only ones who can change!
