Tucker from CardLords recently sent me along BattleGoats to check out. I have only ever played one other game similar to this one so I was really excited to give it a try because I love goats and thought the design behind the game was adorable.
BattleGoats is a goat-themed modern combination of classic card games like Memory and War, players take turns in card battle to determine a winner using the highest number value, each player gets a random hero and recruits an army of goats to help them, to build an army, all players draw 8 additional cards from the deck at random, with 9 cards in hand, each player lays them out face down in a 3×3 pattern to set up their battlefield. Battling is easy, To attack, select one of your cards, then choose any one of your opponent’s cards, both cards are flipped over and the card with the highest value wins, this continues until there is a player with one card remaining who wins.
Each set features 55 Total Cards that are beautifully illustrated by Santiago Calleriza, Heavy Duty Polypropylene (Plastic) box, 7 Hero Cards, 33 Goat Cards, 9 Creature Cards, 6 Equipment Cards and a Rulebook. The game is marketed for 9+, 2-6 players and takes around 5-30 Minutes to play.
The cards in BattleGoats are beautifully illustrated and I had really fun playing this game, I found it really easy to understand and when I told the folks over at Dark Mountain Games(a local store in my shops that sells games like this) about it, they were really interested and I plan to hold a demo of the game there at a later date.
You can purchase BattleGoats for $19.99.
