Crockpot Beans:
This Crockpot Beans recipe was given to me by a family friend, his mother made it and it was always a huge crowd-pleaser. I was told his mother called it “Picnic Beans” and every time I have made this for BBQ’s been a huge hit. Sometimes it’s REALLY hard to find Lima Beans near me but I have found them both in canned and frozen form. Both work fine. I do sometimes add different beans into it, depending on what I have or what’s on sale.
What you need:
1 lb Bacon
1 lb Hamburger
1 cup Chopped Onion
2 28-31 oz Can Pork and Beans in Tomato Sauce(DO NOT DRAIN)
1 16 oz can of Kidney Beans Drained
1 cup ketchup(I often add more)
1 16 oz can of Lima Beans Drained
1/4 cup Brown Sugar
1 T Liquid Smoke
3 T Vinegar
Salt and Pepper
1.) Brown Hamburger, Bacon, and Onion, Drain
2.) In Crockpot Mix all ingredients above, Making sure to drain the Kidney beans AND Lima Beans but NOT the Pork and Beans
3.) Cook on High for 3-4 hours or on Low Over Night(its all personal preference)
