I started crocheting about a year ago and while I am pretty much a beginner still I really enjoy it as a hobby and I pretty much crotchet every single night before bed. I do basic things like hats, blankets and kennel pads, and I love to crotchet these things in super bright and fun colors. A fellow crocheter told me about Darn Good Yarn so I followed them on social media.

Darn Good Yarn is an online yarn store that is pretty much a one-stop shop for your yarn needs. They sell different varieties of yarn including Sari Ribbon, Wool, Banana, Chiffon, Cotton, Linen and more. They also have a wonderful selection of recycled yarn, vegan, dyeable and etc.

Darn Good Yarn isn’t just a yard shop though, they also carry patterns, kits, spinning supplies, sewing supplies, and even clothing! In fact, they have a wonderful variety of Artisan, Sustainable and Fair Trade Clothing. Their wrap skirts are STUNNING and I hope to purchase one soon.

One more neat thing that Darn Good Yarn offers is monthly subscription boxes! They currently have three different subscriptions to choose from: Yarn of the Month, Fabric of the Month and Bead of the Month. Each box is just $10 a month and you will receive an expertly curated box of crafting materials. I recently had a chance to check out their Yarn of the Month box and I was so excited!

Yarn of the Month Box:

With Yarn of the Month box you will receive a skein of premium yarn, a knit & crotchet pattern and a mystery gift.

The box I received contained a STUNNING Ombre Knitting and Crotchet Hook bundle which featured a pair of 5mm knitting needles and a 5mm crochet hook. These needles and hook are so pretty in person and they are branded with “Darn Good Yarn”. You can actually purchase these on their website too for $19.99. I’ve read these are included in everyone’s first box.

I LOVE the skein of rainbow yarn I received too, I misplaced the paperwork that came with the box but if I recall its silk and called “watercolor”. The knitting pattern was for a cowl and the crochet pattern was for a “neckwear” which also looks like a cowl. I opted to not use the pattern and made a small coaster.

Final Thoughts:

Yarn of the Month box from Darn Good Yarn is a great affordable way to try out new yarns and makes a wonderful gift for the knitter or crocheter in your life. I think $10 is a steal for what you receive and now that I’ve had a chance to try out some of their yarn I defeinty will be purchasing from them in the future as I was very impressed with the quality.
