Eastside Distilling has been producing high quality spirits in Southeast Portland’s Distillery Row since 2008. All of their products are made in Portland,Oregon from natural ingredients in small batches.
They introduced Below Deck Rums in 2009 and has since launched several more award-winning spirits, including Burnside Bourbon and Portland Potato Vodka, and our new Cherry Bomb Whiskey. Eastside also produces small batch and seasonal products like our Holiday Spiced Liqueur and new Peppermint Bark and Egg Nog Liqueurs.
Eastside Distilling was kind enough to send me over some of their spirits to review!
I received their Burnside “Oregon Oaked” Bourbon, Cherry Bomb Whiskey, Burnside 4 year Barrel Aged Straight Bourbon Whiskey and Marionberry Whiskey.
The Burnside “Oregon Oaked” is a straight bourbon whiskey that is twice barrelled for exceptional flavor. They took their award-winning Burnside Bourbon and continue the aging process for another 60 days in a brand new 59-gallon heavy-charred Oregon oak barrel, which adds a whole new flavor to the whiskey. It is 96 Proof/48% alcohol and won a Silver Medal at the prestigious San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
It is made in small batches and each bottle contains a batch number and bottle number.
Cherry Bomb is handmade with real Oregon cherries and aged whiskey. The whiskey has a deep red color which comes naturally from the cherries. It contains no artificial coloring or flavor extracts and each bottle also even has a bit of cherry pulp in it. It is 60 proof/30% alcohol and 2014 winner of the MicroLiquour Gold Spirit Award.
Burnside 4 year Barrel Aged Straight Bourbon Whiskey is a straight bourbon whiskey with has solid cinnamon and oak flavors. It works exceptionally well in Old Fashioneds, Sazeracs and Manhattans. It is 96 proof/48% alcohol and won a Gold Medal in the MicroLiquor Spirit Awards and he prestigious Beverage Tasting Institute has awarded Burnside Bourbon with another gold medal, stating, “Amber color. Aromas of honeyed fruit cake, charcoal and herbed corn bread with a soft, dryish medium body and a warming praline, pink peppercorn, and slate finish. A solid choice for mixing.” Their rating? 90 points (Exceptional).
Marionberry Whiskey is handmade with local Oregon marionberries and aged whiskey. Just like Cherry Bomb all the color comes from the fruit and it contains NO no artificial coloring or flavor extracts. It has a bright, potent aroma of sweet mango, raspberry and blackberry. It is 60 proof/30% alcohol.
Review:
While all of the spirits I received were EXCEPTIONAL my favorite has to be the Marionberry. I had never even heard of Marionberries before I received the whiskey but It such a unique flavor that its addictive! All four exceeded my expectations and I am now a fan of Eastside Distilling.
You can find their spirits at four locations and some liquor stores.
