Now I could start this post off with how bad slaughter animals are treated, even show some graphic pictures, but I wont. In my personal opinion everyone should be able to do their own research and make their own decision. I’m not one for forcing my believes on others.
For the past six months or so, I have not been eating much meat, maybe 1-2 meals a week. I cook meat for my family, but I found my self leaning more and more away from it. I mean yeah, I totally feel bad for all the poor animals, but lately its been the taste. All the meat I have tried recently had just completely turned my stomach. I don’t know if they are pumping more and more into the meat or if we have just ate so much of it that I’m sick of it. While anyways, I was reading an article a few months ago and came across the word flexitarian. It completely stood out to me, so I began doing research.
The officially definition is.
A semi-vegetarian or flexitarian diet is one that is plant-based with the occasional inclusion of meat products
That pretty much sounds like what I am doing already I thought to my self.
Now here’s my personal side of it,
Lately I cant stand meat, If I make it or eat it, I eat about a half or less of a serving size, but here’s the thing, I’m not picky, If I go to a BBQ and someones having burgers, I wont go, “Oh my god I cant eat that”, I will either A) Eat it and that’s my 1-2 servings a meat a week or B) Wont eat it. I still make meat based dishes in my house, I will just prepare a portion for my self without meat. I have just been largely attracted to veggies, fruits and other sources of protein.
So I have decided I am going to focus more on making healthy and yummy recipes that are meat free. I still use animal products(eggs, milk, butter, cheese etc) I just don’t eat much meat these days. I figure I will keep everyone updated on this transition and I hope to even get my family a little involved!
