Last week you might of recalled me posting about Circus Smirkus and giving away tickets to a fan(Congrats again Denise Fletcher Spaulding). Well yesterday my Mother and I attended their show in Hanover, NH and we had a blast!
Circus Smirkus is Vermont’s very own award-winning international youth circus. Since 1987 they have promoted the skills, culture and traditions of the traveling circus, inspiring youth to engage in life-changing adventures in the circus arts. Every year Circus Smirkus travels around the area in their Big Top Tour. This year the show was called BON APPÉTIT! and was food related.
I highly suggest if you are going to attend one of these shows, leave early and get good directions(I used Map Quest and was left a little confused)! We attended the Hanover, NH show and most of the streets in Hanover were NOT clearly labeled so we ended up arriving later then expected. They also didn’t have many signs advertising for it until a few miles before where it was located which was a little confusing but I would contribute that to another big event that was being hosted in Hanover on the same very close to the event.
We arrived and since my mother is unable to park far and has a handicap placard we were allowed to park close to the tent which was very nice. We arrived and the ticket booth was set up into two sides, one for preordered tickets and one for purchasing them the day of. We were able to score our tickets fast and through the ticket booth was a smaller tent sent up with food and a gift shop area.
We browsed for a few minutes, I bought a water and some maple cotton candy(The water and cotton candy came to $6) and we proceeded into the big top tent.
Being that my mother can not climb the bleachers(I highly doubt I could even climb them without falling as they are small), Circus Smirkus reserves the front row seats for folks who can not climb which was great as we were able to score front row seats with a great view. They allow kids to sit right in front of the stage on the floor which allows them to better interact with those preforming in Circus Smirkus and allows them a perfect seat to the show.
On the way in my mother and I received a great program that was titled “Menu”, remember this year was BON APPÉTIT!
The show started off GREAT and was very upbeat from the start, It was a great mixture of aerials, juggling and more. My mother and I attended together and we were both left in awe and completely entertained. Don’t let the sea of kids fool you! Its very enjoyable for parents as well!
There were more than a handful of times my jaws was WIDE open because of how impressive the stunts these young kids do, We definitely plan on attending next year.
Because this IS an indoor event and its in a tent I HIGHLY suggest dressing cool, I ended up having to leave early because I overdressed and I was overheating so next year I plan to dress a lot cooler so I can stay for the whole show but I have seen their whole show before and its VERY IMPRESSIVE! Every single time I’ve seen Circus Smirkus(This is my forth show) I have been left nothing but impressed, with my jaw open and I end up talking about the stunts for DAYS!
There are PLENTY of shows left so don’t hesitate!
