Nutiva is the the world’s leading brand of all-organic hemp foods, coconut oil, red palm oil and chia seeds. Their virgin organic coconut oil is cold-pressed, great for sautéing and baking, enhancing your favorite recipes, and body care.  Their coconut oils are also organic, non GMO, steam refined and non-hydrogenated.

Nutiva sent me a bottle of the virgin coconut oil and their refined coconut oil to review.

The benefit of refined coconut oil is that it has a higher smoke point than virgin coconut oil. You can cook with it at up to 400°F (versus 350°F for virgin coconut oil). It also has a neutral scent and flavor (versus virgin coconut oil which has a distinct coconut smell and flavor). This makes it ideal for recipes where a coconut flavor is not desired. Refined Coconut Oil and Virgin Coconut Oil have the same benefits of 63% Medium Chain Triglycerides and 50% Lauric Acid.

Their virgin coconut oil is cold-pressed and never refined, deodorized or bleached! Savor its rich aroma and its smooth and sweet flavor. It’s ideal as a medium-heat cooking oil, a nutritious substitute in baking and perfect for spreading on bread, vegetables or popcorn. A pinch of salt will reduce the coconut flavor in savory recipes.

The refined coconut oil comes in 15 oz for $9.99, 12 oz for $11.99, 54 oz for $24.79 and 1 gallon for $44.80. The virgin coconut oil comes in 15 fl oz for $12.99. 14 oz for $11.99. 23 oz for $17.99, 29 oz for $22.99, 54 oz for $40.99 and 1 gallon for $72.99.
