I bake a lot, especially shortbread and I prefer to bake strictly with butter. I feel it provides a better taste than alternatives and as someone who comes from a long line of dairy farmers, there really IS no alternative in my opinion. I recently teamed up with Minerva Dairy to talk about their products as well as host a great giveaway for you guys and gals!

Minerva Dairy is located in Minerva, OH and was founded in 1894 when 1st Generation Max P. Radloff established Radloff Cheese in Wisconsin. In 1935 with the production of  bottled milk, ice cream, butter, and cheese came Minerva Dairy. Today the business is still family owned and still produces an 84% Batch Churned Amish Butter as well as a wide variety of cheese that includes Cheddar, Swiss, Italian, and Kosher varieties.

I was sent a 2lb roll of their 84% Batch Churned Amish Butter to check out and boy was I excited!

Their 84% Batch Churned Amish Butter is made with 84% butterfat and made by the batch in a churn. The slow churning process gives the butter an authentic thick texture and then additive-free Sea Salt is added before its hand packed.

The butter arrived in a cooler unmelted, I ended up taking the 2lb roll and cutting some of it into smaller pieces and placing them in a plastic bag for easier access. I found that their better has a well-balanced flavor, melts well and reminds me of the butter my grandmother use to buy directly from an Amish farm near her house. It made AMAZING shortbread cookies and is great for bulk baking because it comes in 2lb rolls as well as quarter sticks, 8oz rolls and even flavors such as Garlic & Herb, Pumpkin Spice, Maple Syrup and Smoked Maplewood.
