SURPRISE!!
Baby Richards is expected to make an appearance around May 24th, 2021!
I am exactly 11 weeks pregnant today and I still can’t believe it! I have been trying to patiently wait until I hit 12 weeks to post this because I know a lot of women choose to wait until after the first trimester but so far everything including blood work and ultrasound has come back showing the baby is strong.
This has been a really interesting journey, especially since my infertility issues in the past. It took us around 9 months of actively trying to conceive and I am just so excited about this journey.
How we found out:
We found out on September 15th due to a routine pregnancy test. I had started taking them around the time of my period, A friend invited us out to dinner at a popular local bar and I took a pregnancy test before going just in case I wanted to have a drink or two. It was negative, I was devastated and we went about our night.
Once we arrived at the bar I still had a weird feeling so I decided against drinking but completely pigged out on food. When we got home around midnight I was just not feeling good so I decided to take another test. That is when I noticed the test I took before I left was still on the counter and this time it had those two lines. I proceeded to take a bunch to I guess prove to myself it was true and Adam was so excited when I showed him those little two lines.
Our First Ultrasound:
Our very first Ultrasound was on September 28th and the baby’s heart was beating away! The heart rate has stayed at 160 so Adam is fully convinced it’s a girl. We haven’t been able to actually hear the heartbeat yet but we have been able to see the little heart on ultrasound and everything is wonderful.
We decided on a Midwife
I decided very early on in the pregnancy that I wanted to go through a Midwife. A friend of mine suggested Sacred Transitions out of Bellows Falls, Vermont and I must say I LOVE Rebecca and her staff. My first appointment was around 2 hours long and Rebecca constantly makes me feel reassured. I won’t lie I’m a bit scared of what to expect during Pregnancy and Birth but Rebecca and her staff are just phenomenal!
So everyone keeps asking…How are you feeling?
Emotionally, this has been such an amazing experience already, physically I am battling horrible morning sickness(whoever called it morning sickness has clearly never been pregnant) to the point my Midwife is very concerned about Hyperemesis gravidarum. I am on some medication that helps a tiny bit but the side effect is severe fatigue so I’m constantly sleeping which makes me feel guilty. I know all pregnancies are different but I guess I expected to be more active. My midwife said that sometimes things change in the second trimester so fingers crossed!
What about cravings?
I am literally obsessed with banana peppers right now, can’t get enough. Since getting pregnant I feel full a lot faster when I can eat so I’m eating tiny meals all day long.
I will update throughout the pregnancy!
