Tie-dye onesies make an awesome baby shower activity!
Since I gave birth in May and we were in a pandemic, I didn’t have a traditional baby shower. Many people sent items via registries and while we did have a teeny family get-together I wanted to make it special. I wanted an activity that could be done with close family as well as something my stepkids would enjoy. That is where Doodle Hog came to the rescue!
Doodle Hog offers everything from toddler crafting supplies to premium watercolor brush pens. Their website offers an array of arts and craft items and kits for all ages. They also offer a wonderful selection of Tie Dye kits which as perfect for my baby shower.
Since my due date was right around Mother’s Day,we also created tie-dye headbands for their Mother using two of their kits.
I ended up purchasing a bunch of Gerber white onesies similar to this listing and followed the directions of soaking them prior to the get-together.
We used the Rainbow Classic Tie Dye Party Kit which came with the following items.
The Process Making Tie Dye Onesies:
I thought the process was super easy like I said above. I decided to soak the onesies in the provided soda ash right before we decided to tie-dye so it was all ready. The non-toxic powder is super easy to activate. You just added water to the bottles and shake. My step kids are super messy so I was worried this would be an aboustely catastrophe(which I was prepared for) but it actually wasn’t anywhere near as messy as I thought and while it resulted in bright colors on the onesies, it didn’t stain my stepkids, or the surface.
This is my favorite onesie that we made. We ended up creating four and two of them I don’t think my stepkids saturated enough because, after one wash, it was almost white again. However, I haven’t had this issue with the other onesies. This is actually only the second time I’ve ever tie-dyed!
I had a blast and I think this makes an awesome idea for any baby shower!
