Stephs Cheers and Jeers was provided the samples mentioned in this post in return for an unbiased review.
I have many fond memories of visiting beaches with my family, our favorite spots were York Beach, Maine and Hampton Beach, New Hampshire. As silly as it sounds I’ve always been fascinated by sand, I have bottled some sands over the years and looking at them always sends me back to those fun times. I came across Dune Jewelry a few years ago after I was looking for the perfect gift for my mother for Mother’s Day and I reviewed their Inlet Cuff in Silver with sand from York Beach, Maine and it was a huge hit. I have teamed up with them for another review and this time I will be receiving their Marina Necklace with sand from Jokulsarlon, Iceland.
Dune Jewelry started in 2010 Holly Daniels Christensen, a self-taught jewelry designer. She began making sand jewelry for friends and family, today they feature multiple artists and house one of the largest sandbanks with over 3000+ Locations worldwide from numerous beaches, trails, and mountaintops.
The Marina Necklace features a large round that houses the sand of your choice and layered to a slightly domed, glass-like finish. It is approximately 25mm in diameter which is about the size of a quarter. Its made from .925 sterling silver and comes with your choice of 16”, 18” or 20” sterling silver box chain or black waxed cotton cord. For an extra fee you can engrave the back of the necklace as well. All of Dune Jewelry’s items have a lifetime warranty, come with care instructions and literature that indicates the source of the sand. My necklace is currently in production but when I receive it I will be sure to update!
This is what the sand from Jokulsarlon looks like.
This particular necklace is GORGEOUS but they have many different styles to choose from including rings, bracelets and of course more necklaces.
This necklace sells for $90.00 and will make an everlasting impression on the gift recipient.
Dune Jewelry’s items are the perfect way to forever encase a memory that will be loved for years to come. If their sandbank does not happen to have the sand you want, you can submit your own sand, each piece can use up to 2 oz. of sand to create and they encourage you to send a 1/2 cup or more to be added to our sandbank.
