Here is a recipe for meatballs that are ALWAYS a huge hit in my house!
I make a large batch of it, because I love eating it for a few days 😉
Finished Product
Ingredients:
Three Pounds of Hamburger
One can of Mushrooms or one package of fresh mushrooms
One red pepper
1/2 cup Breadcrumbs
2 eggs
1/2 milk
Spices(I personally used oregano, salt, pepper, crushed red pepper, garlic powder, onion powder)
One Onion
One can of broth(I used Garden flavored)
Olive Oil
1) Combine Mushrooms, Red Pepper, Onion, Olive Oil, and a few tablespoons of Breadcrumbs in a Food Processor(Or chop mushrooms, red pepper, and onion by hand and set them aside in a large dish)
2) Combine in a bowl(with the mushroom mixture) Hamburger, Breadcrumbs, Eggs, Milk, and Spices.
3) Mix with hands, On Stove, heat a skillet with olive oil in it, Form Meatballs by hand(I got about 25 meatballs out of the above recipe)
4) Drop meatballs in a skillet, Pour about a 1/2 of broth in pan*
* I saw this on a cooking show, and have found that the broth prevents the meatballs from drying out and adds a nice flavor as well
5)Brown meatballs until they are cooked
During the next step I usually have my crockpot out with two three jars of my favorite pasta sauce, with two cans of chopped tomatoes added, I then add the meatballs into that mixture to keep them warm while I cook the pasta, I prepare this that way because my husband works late and I can prepare it ahead of time!
YUMMMM I am going to make these but with ground chicken as we try not to eat red meat 🙂
I would be all over this except for the onion and the hubster hates mushrooms. I can adjust it though. It looks yummmmmmmmy. Thanks for posting it
I LOVE meatballs and this sounds like a really yummy recipe! Thanks for sharing it.
I don’t eat meat (and find it repulsive), but I love using my food processor for making falafel or chickpea burgers. 😀
I so need a food processor. I like to eat meat but HATE to touch it. I try to touch it as little as possible LOL These meatballs look so yummy and my 11yr old would LOVE them. Thanks for posting
I love meatballs! I will try the broth trick next time around. Great tip about the crock pot, no warming up on busy nights. Thanks for the post…
I love homemade meatballs! I usually do half pork, half sausage, with oatmeal, peppers, onions, and egg. We put them in meatball subs too, so tasty! Thanks for sharing your recipe!
Meatballs! I should make some for my kids soon. I bet they would love them. Thanks for the great recipe.
