Herbal Apprentice Box: Herbs To Breathe Easy

Stephs Cheers and Jeers received samples mentioned in this post in exchange for being featured on our site.

Herbology has always fascinated me but every time I tried to study it, I became bored. I have always been a hands-on person and schooling was out of the question for a few reasons. I decided to backburner my interest and occasionally I would pick up a book and lose interest again.

Apothecary At Home was created by Shannon who has formal training from a program in Berkeley, California. She created Apothecary At Home because she vowed to bring accessibility to herbal learning and plant medicine. She decided to create an affordable and casual way for people to study right in the comfort of their own homes. They were awarded Cratejoy.com’s Best New Box of 2020 and since launch, their boxes have been consistently selling out. Not only is Apothecary At Home a subscription box, but she has also built a community of people who are eager to learn and Shannon is eager to teach.

I corresponded directly with Shannon who was so personal and kind. She was happy to team up together and even offered 1:1 herbal consultation and formulating, I also joined her Herbal Study Group for subscribers and she interacts often with those in the group.

September Herbal Apprentice Box: Herbs to Breathe Easy

Herbal Apprentice Box

Right before my box arrived in the mail, I received an email that contained a welcome booklet and the Breathe Easy Study Guide. The box contained the following:

  • Herb of the month: Eucalyptus (2oz)
  • Herb of the month: Mullein (2oz)
  • Mystery bonus herb: Marshmallow (1oz)
  • Mullein seeds for planting
  • 4oz Glass maceration jars (2)
  • 2oz Amber glass dropper bottle
  • 4oz Aluminum salve tin
  • Reusable muslin cloth straining bag (2)
  • 5×7 Botanical Illustrations by Virgi
  • Bonus gift: Sinus Relief Tea by The Loose Leaf
  • Bonus gift: Cold Kicker shower steamer by The Herbal Zen

Thoughts:

The welcome guide featured a list of recommended books, recommended materials, fundamental articles, information on safe harvesting, vocabulary, checklists, and more.

I was blown away by the study guide, it was designed in a way that I didn’t lose interest. It also featured beautiful illustrations as well as a table of contents which I found to be very helpful. It featured a breakdown of information about The Respiratory System and how different herbs work to help aid the RS system. There are also full breakdowns about eucalyptus and mullein. I LOVE the project idea section as there is a decent range of different projects and I decided to start by making eucalyptus honey.

I am very impressed with Apothecary At Home, I feel like this program is not only fun but very educational. It is very well put together and I didn’t lose interest as I have in the past with just studying books.
