Stuffing Recipe

DSCF1932

I just LOVE messing around in the kitchen and this time of year I am always looking for new and exciting stuffing recipes! So I thought I’d mess around in the kitchen today. There are a few different ways you can make this so I am going to include the way I made it, Substitutes and possible add ins.

How I made it:

2 pounds of hamburger

1 green, red and orange pepper-sliced

5 chicken bullion disolved in water according to ingredents, you can however use chicken broth or stock if you have it on hand.

1 package of saltines(I normally use 3 out of 4 sleeves)

1 red onion-sliced

1 package of white bread, however stuffing bread comes in handy if you can find it, its just unsliced bread but is hard to find until right around Thanksgiving, if you make stuffing a lot I suggest stocking up when its in stores and freezing it. It freezes well

Italian Garlic Bread(I used North East Seasonings  ) however you can use equal parts oregano, basil, thyme, granulated garlic, sage and rosemary.

1 stick of butter

salt and pepper

1)Cook 2 pounds of hamburger, half way through cooking, throw in sliced peppers and onions.(If you buy a hamburger that is super greasy drain it before adding butter however I always try and buy high quality hamburger so I don’t ever drain it) Add 2 tablespoons of butter, seasoning and 2 cups of chicken bullion/stock/broth. Bring to a boil.

2) boil off excess liquid, remove from heat, tear up bread into slices and add, fold gently and add saltines. Avoid over mixing.

Possible Add Ins:

As you can see in the above picture I added Crasisins, they add a wonderful sweetness, I only omitted them from the whole recipe since my husband doesnt like them

Mushrooms

Substitute Venison or other ground game(Moose, Elk etc)

Celery

Spinach

Cranberries

The Possibilities are seriousness endless, this makes a GREAT Base so don’t be afraid to add things to it and try what works.
