I have lived in New England my entire life and while I’m not a huge fan of sports I love the Boston Red Sox so was Nellie’s Free Range asked me to collaborate for a recipe sponsored by both Nellie’s Free Range and the Boston Red Sox I was super excited!
My ex-boyfriend who is a chef and I sat down and came up with this super yummy burger recipe that we have decided to call The Home Run Burger. We tried to stick with New England brands to really pay homage to the Boston Red Sox and New England.
I have been purchasing Nellie’s exclusively for over a year now because I love their eggs, they are certified humane and taste so fresh.
Nellie’s Free Range Eggs was started over 20 years ago in New Hampshire, they are dedicated to the humane treatment of their certified humane free-range hens and are proud to source their eggs from a network of over 125 small family farms.
Many are located right here in New England so their partnership with the Boston Red Sox is such an exciting opportunity for both Nellie’s, Red Sox fans and us New Englanders.
A fun fact! Nellie’s are now the official eggs of the Boston Red Sox. Since the beginning of this partnership, all egg dishes served at Fenway are made using Nellie’s Free Range Eggs.
Ingredients
- This Recipe makes 2 burgers
- 2lbs of ground beef
- 1 large onion
- 2 Cabot Chedder Cheese Slices
- 2 Nellie's Free Range Eggs
- Oil for Frying
- Hamburger Buns(I purchased some from a local bakery to keep with the local vibe)
- Sliced Deli Pickles
- Butter Lettuce
- Desired Condiments
- Beer Batter Recipe:
- 1 bottle of Samuel Adams Boston Lager
- 1 1/2 cups of Flour
Instructions
- I made my own burgers using a burger press but you can buy premade burgers. If you decide to make your own burgers I suggest making them ahead of time and letting them sit for a few minutes before cooking.
- Peel Onion and slice into rings, prep beer batter in a bowl and let sit 10 minutes. Heat oil in frying pan. Place onion rings in frying pan once oil is ready, Deep fry until golden brown and set aside.
- Place Hamburger patties in a heated frying pan, cook to desired doneness. Top with cheese slice and allow to melt.
- I cooked my eggs in the same pan I did the hamburgers in. I cooked them sunny sideup but you can fry the eg to your desired doneness.
- I layered the burgers in the following order: Bottom Bun, Butter Lettuce, Burger Patty, Egg, Beer Battered Onion Ring, Pickles, Condiments, Top Bun.
I had so much fun putting together this recipe and while it sounds complicated its super tasty and I highly suggest making it at least once!
