I am always looking for new additions to my altars. If you missed it, I do have an Altar Essentials post where I detail some of the items I think are essential to starting an altar. I came across this Raven Table Lamp from an Amazon seller KJYZDYZQ and knew I had to have it!
This resin Raven Table Lamp features realistic details such as feather lines and is stunning! The lamp comes with an E-14 bulb which the Raven holds in his mouth via a wire. It is a unique piece and has already been a conversation starter in our home. It does give off an Edgar Allan Poe vibe so it’s a great gift for Edgar Allen Poe fans, practitioners of witchcraft, or just someone who admires ravens.
You can purchase this lamp for $39.99.
Did You Know?
Ravens hold many different meanings in Witchcraft and spirituality.
Viking Mythology-Two Ravens named Huginn(thought) and Muninn(memory) are associated with the god Odin and are said to fly over Midgard to bring information to Odin.
Greek mythology-a white Raven is associated with the god Apollo.
Celtic mythology-The Goddess known as The Morrighan often appears in the form of a crow or a raven. She is associated with war and battle.
These are just a few examples.
In some religions, Ravens are seen as “unclean” and a bad omen and in others, they are seen as messengers and are used form of divination.
Can I use a Raven in place of a Crow and vice versa?
First, let’s cover the difference between Ravens and Crows.
Ravens: Large body, big curved beak, fairly large wedge-shaped tail, makes a deep croaking call.
Crows: slim beak, squared-off tail, make a clear “caw” sound.
So Can I Substitute?
I have personally substituted crow statues in the place of ravens and vice versa multiple times. In my opinion, it comes down to preference and how comfortable you feel. I always say when it comes down to Witchcraft, do what you feel drawn to.
