Short Term Rentals are growing in popularity, Statistics in 2021 showed that hotel usage was down and more people are taking advantage of Short Term Rentals. In fact, My Mother in Law has been taking advantage of Short Term Rentals over hotels for close to a decade. Statistics in 2021 showed that hotel usage was down and STR usage was up. I think there are several facts to this including COVID-19 but also that Short Term Rentals provides the privacy that hotels just don’t offer.
Here are several reasons why my family prefers short-term rentals over hotels.
-
More Space and Amenities:
We often travel with our extended family, sometimes with as many as 20 people. Short Term Rentals allows for us to book accordingly and that means we all can stay together. With Short Term Rentals, you also have access to a kitchen, living room, and even some amenities like a laundry room, pool, and more. My Mother in Law works from home and we find that Short Term Rentals often have better quality WiFi than hotels. This is very important because she often works while on vacation.
While some people enjoy hotels because they offer housekeeping, gyms, etc. This isn’t an important factor to our family, I found that we very rarely use the gym and rarely even use the housekeeping option.
-
Budget-Friendly:
We find that having access to a kitchen allows us to save money by not eating out. When traveling with small children, this is a much more convenient option, especially when needing to prep bottles. I find that short-term rentals also offer more bang for your buck, especially when it comes to space.
-
Privacy:
Short Term Rentals provide a level of privacy that hotels just don’t. You don’t have to fight other guests for pool space and often you can find rentals that are large enough so your travel party can have their own space. In the age of COVID-19, Short Term Rentals also limit contact with other guests and staff. This is a wonderful option if you want to still travel but are worried about exposure.
Personally, I feel like short-term rentals are totally the way to go when traveling with a large group, especially young children or you are looking for privacy.
Our April Trip:
We are planning a trip to Kissimmee, FL for April. Kissimmee, Fl is a spot my husband’s family has been going to for almost 22 years. We have all grown very fond of going there and often see it as a second home. There are some wonderful things to do in Kissimmee including the following:
- Fun Spot America Theme Parks is located at 2850 Florida Plaza Blvd and is fun for the whole family and includes rides, games, and food. This is a location we visit every time we go.
- Old Town is located at 5770 W Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy and is 18 acres featuring over 70 stores, bars, rides, and other attractions. They also do car shows and one of our favorite attractions is Old Town Portrait Gallery.
- Medieval Times is located at 4510 W. Vine St and is something I have ALWAYS wanted to go to! This is on our list for April and for those that are unaware, they offer a 4-course meal while you get to enjoy a jousting, horsemanship & falconry show.
These are just a few of many things to do in Kissimmee, you are also close to major attractions such as Walt Disney World, Disney Springs, Gatorland and so much more.
Short Term Rentals using Zumper:
Zumper is a website that is used by millions of renters to find houses, rooms, condos, or apartments for rent. You are able to search long-term, short-term, or vacation, submit digital rental reports, and credit reports easily powered by TransUnion. I do wish there was an option to select accommodations, so hopefully, they add this in the future. They offer a variety of short-term rentals in Kissimmee and there are several we are potentially looking at including this one. I think it’s wonderful that the site offers so many options and we can’t wait to use Zumper to help us with our booking needs. Be sure to keep an eye on our Blog for updates about our trip.
